Stakeholders from across Sunyani and Sunyani West are expected to converge at the Sweet Touch Hotel in Sunyani on Friday, 25th September 2026, for the inauguration of the Intermediary City Ecosystem Platform (ICEP) and the official launch of the Sunyani Adolescent Parliament.
The combined event, being organised under the Resilient City for Adolescents (RCA) Project, will bring together representatives of the Sunyani and Sunyani West Municipal Assemblies, government agencies, traditional authorities, civil society organisations, service providers, development partners, the media and adolescent representatives.
The ICEP has been established as a multi-stakeholder platform to strengthen coordination and dialogue among institutions working on issues affecting adolescents and young people. It is expected to provide a structured space for stakeholders to identify challenges, share information and work together to improve adolescent-responsive services and local governance.
The event will also formally launch the Sunyani Adolescent Parliament, an adolescent-led platform designed to give young people a structured voice in civic affairs and decision-making processes affecting their education, health, safety, livelihoods and wellbeing.
A major highlight of the programme will be the formal ratification and ceremonial signing of the Parliament's Constitution, followed by the induction and swearing-in of its Speaker, Executive Committee and Board of Patrons.
The Parliament's leadership will work alongside its Secretariat to support the participation of adolescents in local governance and advocacy, while the Board of Patrons will provide institutional, fiduciary and safeguarding support.
The programme will also feature stakeholder reflections, adolescent engagement, group discussions and the development of an action framework to identify priority issues and practical steps for collaboration after the inauguration.
The event is intended to go beyond a ceremonial launch by building commitments among participating institutions to sustain the ICEP and Adolescent Parliament beyond the RCA Project.
